Description

NAMI is looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are detail-oriented to volunteer in their library on a regular (weekly) basis. This is a really great opportunity to get some hands-on experience working with a small scale community library and a great chance to volunteer locally. NAMI Fox Valley is very close to campus—about a 5 minute walk—and is located at 211 E. Franklin. The collection maintained by the Fox Valley branch is about 1,000 books relating to mental health and wellness and they mostly operate out of Excel databases for their catalog. Duties would include tracking check-in and check-outs, sending out late notices, inventorying the collection regularly, and regularly cataloging and adding new items to the NAMI library catalog. Additionally, previous volunteers have been working on creating an online catalog via Librarika.

Scheduling is very flexible, but consistency on a week-to-week basis is key. Please contact John O'Neill at john.m.oneill@lawrence.edu if you are interested.
