Into the Streets, a popular Welcome Week event at Lawrence University, is a great way for new students to learn about community assets and needs, make new and lasting relationships with like-minded students, and explore the Appleton area through volunteerism.
Selecting an opportunity to volunteer can propel you in a new direction, or bring you back in line with an old one. It helps your community and expands your own vision at the same time. The relationships you develop through volunteerism don't have to be life defining, but they can be a great introduction to places and people that have a lasting impression. The next few years will offer a multitude of experiences. Check out if volunteering is right for you by going "into the streets" on Saturday, 9/9 from 1-5 pm. All participants will get a short tour of their new community, volunteer at a service project of interest, and return to campus for treats and conversation.
