Chrisitian's grades are really improving. We decided that he doesn't need tutoring help right now but to contact me if he does need help in the future.
Christian is very confident in his school work. He seems more interested in social interaction than school. That being said, his schoolwork has improved dramatically since we started.
Christian is feeling much more confident in his ability to do schoolwork and his grades have gone up a lot. He didn't have anything he was struggling on today so we talked about future assignments and he was able to do some verbal processing. It's clear to me that he enjoys the company even though he doesn't have work that he needs help with.
Today Christian and I talked about his school work and specifically what inspired him at school. He didn't have anything he was struggling on today so we spent the time talking and processing his thoughts.
Today, Christian and I spoke about his previous assignments. He didn't have anything specific he wanted to go over so I just struck up a conversation with him about how he feels about in person schooling. We also talked about an assignment he had already completed but wanted to show me.
Today was a shorter meeting because Christian didn't have access to his test results on the subject he needed most help with. Instead, I helped him with spotting errors in his writing. I helped him with verb-tense, grammar, and explaining ideas that didn't completely make it onto the page from his mind.
I tutored Christian in science. Specifically, we went over genetics. I felt a little awkward because I had to brush up on genetics myself but that was only in the beginning. At the end Christian said he understood the material much better which was great to hear.
This was really well done. I was impressed with how well it ran over zoom. I really appreciated the small group actives where we went through drafting emails and phone calls to representatives. I also found Kayla's (the guest speaker) experience invaluable. It change my perception on people of color with disabilities and the intersection of race and disabilities.
Today I met with a new tutee named Christian. We got to know each other first and we set up a weekly schedule so that I can help him with his english/writing and motivation to finish school work. I'm very excited to work with Christian in the following months!
