For this meeting with Halyna, we discussed the third module of the film and tv lesson plan. We talked about film awards in the US and Ukraine and briefly touched on awards acceptance speeches. We then moved on to some more "icebreaker" questions in order to get to know each other better.
I had my sixth meeting with my buddy, Halyna. We discussed the second module on film and TV during this lesson. She gave a mini presentation about what her life as a film would be, including what genre it would be, what the plot would be, and what characters she would include. I then presented ideas for my own hypothetical film. We also further discussed the life events we would want to include in those hypothetical films.
I had my fifth meeting with my buddy, Halyna. We discussed the first module of the lesson plan on film, which included showing each other trailers from movies made in our home country and trying to guess what genre it was. We then discussed differences between American and Ukrainian films.
I had my fourth meeting with my buddy, Halyna. We discussed the last module for travel, which concerned modes of transportation. Halyna shared some photos of her favorite mode of transportation, and we talked about differences in modes of transportation in our respective countries. I also explained how to use the term "make [someone] do [something]" at her request.
I had my third meeting with my buddy, Halyna. We discussed the second week of the travel module, which included giving presentations about places we'd visited in order to practice modal verbs like "should and "can". I also explained some common phrasal verbs to her at her request, including "hang out," "do over," and "go over," among many others.
I met with my buddy, Halyna. We discussed the first part of the ENGin program's published module on travel. We talked about places we'd like to visit, why we'd like to visit them, and about cultural differences. We also discussed some vocabulary items and how to correctly use the modal verb "used to."
During my first tutoring session with my buddy, Halyna, we discussed icebreaker questions and planned how we're going to conduct our meetings going forward. We decided to follow the ENGin lesson plans going forward, and we're going to start with the module on travel.
